The Naval Air Systems Command intends to issue a sole-source cost plus fixed fee (CPFF) standalone contract to GE Aviation Systems LLC (GEAS) in order to complete the Non-Recurring Engineering (NRE) associated with the redesign effort of the Application-Specific Integrated Circuit (ASIC) chip utilized on the F/A-18 platform. Once the redesign effort is complete, future firm fixed price contract modifications will cover the procurement of the redesigned ASIC daughter card and additional Station Control Units (SCUs) and Stores Management Processors (SMPs) to fulfill Lot 46 requirements. In conjunction with the F/A-18E/F aircraft production requirements, NAVAIR must also procure production-related engineering change proposals (ECPs) and related data to support these items.
This synopsis is for informational purposes only. THIS NOTICE IS NOT A REQUEST FOR COMPETITIVE PROPOSALS. The Government intends to negotiate the contract under the authority of FAR 6.302-1; "Only one responsible source and no other supplies or services will satisfy agency requirements." The North American Industry Classification Systems (NAICS) code for the action described herein is 336413.
GENERAL INFORMATION: Boeing is the prime contractor and lead systems integrator for the F/A-18 program. GEAS is a major production subcontractor. Due to the schedule challenges and redesign work already underway in support of the H-1 platform, the Government will procure the redesign efforts, chips, and remaining SCUs and SMPs directly from GEAS. For subcontracting opportunities, more information can be found at https://www.geaerospace.com/company/doing-business/supplier-diversity-program.
There are no commitments by the Government to issue any solicitations, make an award or awards, or to be responsible for any monies expended by any interested parties before award of a contract or modification for the efforts mentioned above. Information provided herein is subject to change and in no way binds the Government to solicit for or award a contract.
