PERFORMANCE WORK STATEMENT
Sugarcane Chromosome Karyotype Analysis
Introduction: As part of the sugarcane breeding activities at the Sugarcane field station in Canal Point, parental fertility is very important to produce high quality viable seeds. Since sugarcane is highly polyploid with aneuploidy, it would be beneficial to have the parent’s cytological information available.
Scope: The Contractor shall perform the cytological analysis on sugarcane parents to determine their ploidy levels and identify molecular markers.
Technical Requirements:
- high-resolution metaphase chromosome preparation technology
- fluorescence in situ hybridization
Period of Performance: Contract award after 08/01/2023.
Government Furnished: Access to the facility during normal business operations (Monday through Friday, 7:30 am to 4 pm)
Performance Requirement Measures:
- Count chromosome numbers using high-resolutions chromosome preparation technique.
- Develop Fluorescence in situ hybridization for parents.
- Provide data and analytics.
