The City of Brooksville has adopted a Brick Street Ordinance that in part calls for the restoration of brick streets.
Russell Street is a partial brick street that incurred damage during a milling operation that was planned to remove
a portion of the asphalt surfacing. In part the operation was successful, but it also damaged some bricks. The
plan is now to remove all remaining bricks and retain the useable ones at the Public Works site and discard the
damaged bricks. After this is done the existing base will be removed and new graded aggregate base material
and a sand bedding course will be installed. Existing salvaged bricks and replacement bricks will then be
installed. The work includes installation of curbing, curb and gutter and a gutter in certain areas. Removable
bollards, concrete bumper blocks, pavement markings and handicap signage is also included in the work.
