Project Name: Intended Sole Source Purchase: Polaris Integrated Library System Maintenance and Vega Discovery Layer Scope of Work: Lee County Library System is seeking to execute a sole source for a maintenance agreement for a period of three-years for the Polaris Integrated Library System (ILS) which helps to integrate all aspects of the library system--circulation, acquisitions, cataloging, and serials functions, which makes it possible to keep the library system running. This software houses all of our customer information, allows customers to place holds and to check out materials. Back of house functions allow staff to carry out acquisitions, serials, and cataloging functions which shows customers what we have, where it is located, and the status of a particular title or item in a given branch {i.e., checked out, on shelf, an order, etc.). This database software houses all of the titles and item records in our system, both physical and virtual, and allows customers to manage their accounts by signing on and seeing the status of items requested, what they have checked out, and make payments for fines and fees. Finally, the software allows our customers to connect to databases and electronic resources remotely through an authentication service in Polaris that will verify if a customer who is trying to access our virtual materials is allowed too.
